News reaches us from America that their Department of Transportation is considering banning the use of electronic cigarettes on commercial airlines.

More than 700 people commented on the proposal which is due to be decided by Summer 2012.

The proposal’s been put forward because of the increased promotion and use of electronic cigarettes.

The department has said that although it considers electronic cigarettes to be covered under the existing law banning smoking on aeroplanes, it intends to adopt a rule specifically banning them.

If the move goes ahead it could spell a problem for travellers who rely on the use of e cigs to calm their nerves during flights.
