We have recently been hit hard with the headlines reporting on the terrible state of the country’s financial situation and then, just this past week or so, we have been told, despite all of those kind-hearted MPs offering to pay back some of that stolen money from our kitty, that the NHS is still suffering.

After the government agreed to continue with public spending and denied any cuts from the NHS, this British Institution has had to stomach bills to the tune of £5bn to pay for diseases caused by smoking. There is no denying that this is absolutely disgraceful and frankly worrying that our money is still being used to pay for treating people for using something that we all know is detrimental to our health.

The British Heart Foundation has aired concern over the news of the heart-stopping figure because the money is being drained out of one of the most important workings of the UK and yet it is “as a direct result of something we have the power to prevent.” Betty McBride, Policy and Communications Director for the BHF said. They have also called for the Health Bill being passed through Parliament at the moment to re-address the controls over the sales of cigarettes and for everyone to focus on the “true tragedy of this monstrous figure” and realise that it means that lives are being lost every day because of smoking cigarettes.

The Cheaper Alternative?

Cigarettes contain over 4000 toxic chemicals, which, when burned and inhaled create deadly carcinogenic fumes, straining your heart and lungs. It would appear that a real alternative, therefore, could be electronic cigarettes, containing no carcinogens and cheaper to the NHS!

I have to agree with our Smart Smoker blogger from a couple of months ago as it really seems obvious to me that our e-cigarette should be regarded by our government not only as a real alternative but as a savior of taxpayers’ money too! If you want to start to help yourself and the country then I suggest you have a look over our range of e-cigarettes, the Smart Smoker Electronic Cigarette really could be the answer we are all looking for!

As ever, we would love to hear what you have to say about the subject and how electronic cigarettes could help…
