Nicotine: Some Facts
It is widely known that nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world. When we intake nicotine, it causes dopamine to be released into the brain. This is a naturally occuring “pleasure” chemical in our bodies that makes us feel good, calm, focussed. One of the reasons why nicotine is so addictive is that over time, the more you use it, the more your body needs to reach the same level of pleasure. Most nicotine addicts are so through smoking cigarettes; the most common way to obtain nicotine.
Will power alone is often not enough for some people who try to stop smoking; the craving for a cigarette is so strong because over time, nicotine changes the structure and function of the brain. Addicts will think they need a cigarette when actually it is purely the nicotine that is being craved.
That doesn’t mean to say, however that the cigarette is not physically addictive. The action of inhaling the toxic smoke and putting the cigarette to your mouth in itself can become habitual, making the nicotine addiction even harder to beat. The mouth and hands are very erogenous and touching and inhaling something that makes you feel so relaxed and happy is also in itself very hard to stop doing.
That’s why more and more people are realising that their addiction to nicotine is so much more complex than they had initially realised. There are numerous contributing factors to the addiction that must all be eased before it can be completely beaten and the addiction to the drug is a large part of it but old habits die hard. The actions of holding the cigarette between your fingers and having it in your mouth have to both be kicked in order for the temptation to smoke to no longer be an issue.

By profession I am a sales manager and by hobby I am a chain smoker. Few days ago, one of my friend suggested me to start electronic cigarettes. He said that it lowers the quantity of nicotine etc.
So, do you suggest electronic cigarettes as an alternative to normal cigarettes?
I have also heard about ZERO nicotine based electronic cigarettes. Is this true?
I have not started yet but I want your suggestions first.
Electronic Cigarettes are a real alternative. Yes, you can get zero nicotine in the electronic cigarette from Smart Smoker.
We offer four different strengths of nicotine in our cartridges, Low (6mg), Medium (11mg), High (16mg) and None so you can intake a lower or higher dose as you wish, unlike with a normal packet of cigarettes.
Visit this page on our website for more information about the benefits of Smart Smoker electronic cigarettes: http://www.smartsmoker.co.uk/pages/Benefits.html
I’ve been a smoker for about 25 years now. I’m used to smoke about 20 to 25 cigarettes a day. I changed to these e-cigs this month. I did it completely, So I didn’t smoked any regular cigarette any more. I use up to 2 medium cartridges a day (1,5 to be exact). I even visited a party where a lot of smokers attended, and I didn’t used any regular cigarette.
The only thing I currently miss; the 5minutes break outside at the door at work
I switched to e-Cigarettes after years of trying to give up on Tobacco Cigarettes. To begin with I usd Nicotine Patches but I always failed when I got to the point of no longer wearing a patch, it was the final push too far.
My Doctor advised me that although the Nicotine is Addictive it was much less harmful for me to be on the patches than the Tobacco Cigarettes so advised me to continue on the patches for as long as I wished “ad infinitum”!
I figured if I was going to continue my Nicotine habit I may as well go on to the e-Cigarette and get the enjoyment of the Hand to Mouth action and the satisfaction of the Inhale – Exhale cycle at the same time! I AM much healthier and my Cholesterol levels have halved… surely this can only be seen as a good thing!
